Bryan White - Got to meet troy his rookie year when the steelers came to seattle. very quite, but got him to sign his bowman rookie card. he's an animal on the field. i rank him up with jack lambert & greg lloyd as my favorite all time defensive players.
(submitted by M. Davis) Subject: Fw: What a guy!! This is why I like Troy! My fellow Steelers fans and those who might just appreciate a good story…
I thought you all would like to know about this. There is a 10 year old little girl – Heather – she has Ewing’s Sarcoma. She had surgery on Monday to remove part of her lung, three ribs and part of a few other ribs. She is recovering now but Troy Polamalu (I know you all know who he is) has been an angel in her life. She has been in and out of the hospital and when Troy can be there, he goes to see her. They play Guitar Hero and when he’s not there, he texts her. Before Monday’s surgery, Heather got a surprise from him, he sent her his jersey – signed - that he wore in the game against the Ravens. I am forwarding you pictures of him playing guitar hero with her. I thought you might enjoy it.
This is a very special guy, taking time out of his busy schedule to bring sunshine into this little girls life.
Eddieonfox - I was VERY, VERY lucky to see the game (Super Bowl XLIII) in person because of my job with the Fox Sports Radio Network. I saw the game in person, went on to the field after the game and into the Steelers locker room. Obviously this meant a lot to me being a huge Steelers fan. The moment I will never forget, even more then Harrison's run or Santonio's catch was Troy Polamalu smiling at me in the locker room. I was interviewing Dick LeBeau and he came over and hugged his coach and said "I love you coach" Then he just looked at me and smiled. It was pure joy and I know I had that smile too.
socalsteelersfan - In the early 1980's when I attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California I got to know a Kid in my English Class by the name of Al Pola. I remember that Al had an older brother by the name of Kennedy who was an exceptional Defensive Back for the school's football team. So exceptional that Kennedy Pola went on to play college football at USC, play professional football with the Oakland Raiders and now he is a defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sometime after Troy Polamalu was drafted to the Steelers from USC in 2003I found out that Al and Kennedy Pola are his cousins. I recently found out that Al went on to play college football atPenn State but never found out if he ever played in the pros. It's a small Steeler Nation world after all!
